Duke Ellington may have coined the phrase "sacred jazz" to describe music he considered his spiritual offering. Today jazz music whose primary purpose is to uplift the Lord is called Jazz Praise. Therefore, Jazz Praise is the exuberant exaltation of Jesus Christ through the recasting of traditional hymns and spirituals, as well as original compositions, within a jazz discipline.
A new approach to spiritual expression through jazz is on the rise.
Featured on the December 2002 release of Testify!, you will hear a new
treatment to such standard gospel hymns as:
1. Great Is Thy Faithfulness (Chisholm/Runyan - arr. L. Bryant)
2. Amazing Grace (Traditional - arr. L. Bryant)
3. All to Jesus, I Surrender (VanDeVenter/Weeden/L. Bryant - arr. L. Bryant)
4. I Want Jesus To Walk With Me (Traditional - arr. L. Bryant)
5. Come Ye Disconsolate (Traditional - arr. L. Bryant)
In addition, two original compositions will also be included:
6. Psalm (L. Bryant), Caylance Publishing (BMI)
7. Testify! (L. Bryant), Caylance Publishing (BMI)
